I. SALUTATIONS
Hello, Lovelies! I woke up this morning to blue sky sunshine, a drop in
temperature, and a new political landscape (that is all I will say about
the election other than I am so proud of our nation for turning out to
vote in such numbers). Though the thin skin of ice that clung to the edge
of the reservoir last week is now gone, I image we are just a few days off
from its inevitable and much more stubborn return. I sense my town is
about to batten down the hatches for winter despite the innocuous looking
sky. The signs are all there: white on the Arapaoe Peaks, a house
rattling northwest wind, and the seasonal return of the exteded crow
family that has a time share in our tall lodgepole pines. I don't mind
the change this year as it bodes well for writing (much to Stella's
ball-crazed sadness).
I am thrilled to perform in my (relative) home town tomorrow night.
Tickets have been selling at an incredible pace and I feel so lucky to be
able to do this show with the Louisville Center for the Arts. Today is
the last day to be able to purchase advance tickets on-line at the
discounted price, so if you're planning on coming, I would recommend
getting them soon (http://www.bethamsel.org/louisville_main.html). You
Boson peeps know I love you, but there is nothing like performing for the
people who have been supporting this endeavor from the very first open mic
I did in 1994. Has it really been twelve years? Do you clearly remember
where you were twelve years ago? Were you still wearig tapered jeans?
Who the hell knew they would ever come back into fashion?
Welcome to all of the people who signed up for the E-Newsletter at the
performance this past Suday at Unity! You could not have made this girl
feel anymore welcome.
I will be seeing you in the new year as I get back on the road and travel
to small towns everywhere (and a few of the big ones, too). I hope this
finds you and your loved ones very well and that you have a wonderful
thanksgiving (with all of the turkey/tofu goodness and none of the family
dysfunction).
